Hanging out
One of the prettiest beaches around Ensenada is Estero Beach.

Explore Mexico
Hanging outPosing at La Mirador, the Lookout, about 20 minutes north of Ensenada.
When you visit, enjoy some of the colorful, interesting attractions that make the Ensenada area special. They give you a taste of the Mexican culture and lifestyle. See www.enjoyensenada.com for more info.

How do I travel safely?
Traveling in Mexico can be very safe if you follow some guidelines.  Cultural respect will help you greatly.  Click here for more information on safe travel.   For example, do not take photographs of Mexican military personnel without their permission.

What tourist things can I do?
Here are some of the ways you can explore.  We’ve taken visiting groups to each of these outings.  Got questions? Contact Patty Meadows.

Fox Studios Baja
A small theme park with exhibits, shows and food.  The studio was built for the filming of the movie “Titanic”.  Located in Rosarito, about 40 minutes south of Tijuana.

La Mirador – The Lookout
South of Rosarito is a lookout point.  Watch for the “La Mirador” signs, at Km. 84 on the Tiajuana-Ensenada toll highway, 17 miles north of Ensenada.  The brightly painted buildings have unimpressive pay bathrooms; frequently there are a few vendors with snacks for sale. On a clear day, the views of the coastline are spectacular, and worth your stop.

Ensenada’s Tourist Strip
In downtown Ensenada, one block east of the waterfront is First Avenue, Paseo Calle Primera.  (See Maps.)  Here you can find all kinds of souvenirs.  If you bargain, you can find good deals on Mexican blankets, silver, baskets, T shirts and leather goods.  On weekends you are likely to see large cruise ships.  There are several bars up and down the street which can get raucous on weekend evenings.

Estero Beach
All along the Baja coastline are beaches, but many are littered and dirty.  Six miles south of Ensenada, you can follow the signs west to Estero Beach, a resort area.  After paying a small fee to park, you can enter the resort and enjoy their long, pretty sand beach.  There are a few restaurants at the resort and some limited shopping.

La Bufadora – The Blowhole
Twenty-two miles south of Ensenada is a natural blowhole of rocks along the coastline.  When the tide is high, water shoots up seventy feet into the air.  This popular tourist attraction is lined with stands selling snacks and souvenirs.  There is a small parking fee.
