Passport Information


Effective June1, 2009, US Citizens traveling by land or sea will need to present the following to enter or depart the United States:

  • Ages 19 and older: traveling to Mexico will need to show a Passport for reentry into the United States.
  • Children children under age 16 and children age and children 16 to 18 traveling in groups to Mexico will be required to present original or a certified copy of their birth certificate for reentry into the United States.

Mexican Car Insurance

Having car insurance issued by a Mexican insurance company is mandatory to drive in Mexico. Prior to crossing the border there are numerous places you can stop to get Mexican car insurance. Here are several Mexican insurance companies where you can explore cost and coverages.

  • Baja-Mex Insurance Services
Van/Bus Rental

ASAP Rentals in San Diego rents vans. We understand that they will deliver the vans to wherever you request in the San Diego County including the airport. We also understand that you can purchase Mexican car insurance through them for the vans you rent.
