Giving Tuesday Nov 28, 2023

We have 3 time-sensitive giving opportunities:
Wipe out water debt, Hand-picked Christmas gifts, or Special holiday meals. Read more below.

We have had a long-standing debt to the water company. In 2020, 50% of our debt was for water, 527,911 pesos (about $31,053 at 17 pesos/dollar). For several years the government has pledged help with lowering the water debt for homes like ours; they finally passed a law that pardoned some past debt. The adjusted water bill is about $ 5,880, and we had a special donor gift of $2,425 for water debt. We now owe $3,455. This is a huge answer to prayer. Can you help lift this burden from us?

We shop for Christmas presents individually chosen for each child, based on their interests, desires and needs. This includes a toy and clothing. We hope to raise around $100 per child, with 20 kids (the number of kids is subject to change).

We are feeding 30 to 35 children and staff. Our holiday meals are Christmas Eve / Navidad and New Year’s Eve / Año Nuevo. We also have special snacks and drinks.

Delicious foods include holiday favorites like turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, special salads and desserts. Special Mexican holiday dishes include chicken and beef tamales, frijoles puercos, elotes, tacos de adobada and asada, menudo, champurrado.

Visit Oceanside’s MICHELIN Star restaurant Valle for a special giving opportunity that will warm your heart and your palate. From December 1 to December 12, 2023, Valle will be hosting the 12 Days of Giving, a festive celebration of Baja cuisine and philanthropy.

Each night, Valle will donate up to $1,000 from their restaurant proceeds to two charities that are making a difference in our community: The Autism Society of San Diego and El Sauzal Foundation, Casa Hogar supporting education and advocacy for abandoned, abused and wounded children.   Guests dining with us during the first twelve days of December will be directly contributing to these charitable organizations.  Reserve your spot.
