A little means a lot

You can help our kids by being prayerful, resourceful, creative, imaginative, inventive, innovative, fruitful and inspired!

The Home can always use your help to meet the needs of the children as well as its own operational needs. Remember, it’s not just about writing checks; there are countless other ways you can contribute. Think for a moment.  Companies can make a profit by selling a small amount of something for a large amount of money. Businesses can also make a profit by selling a large amount of something for a small amount of money.

Here are ideas for making a small amount of money, that when partnered with other efforts, can positively impact the Home. Be prayerful!

  • Recycling events – aluminum, glass, metal, electronics
  • Yard, garage and rummage sales
  • Bake sales and dessert auctions
  • Raffles and quarter auctions
  • Handy man/fix it events
  • Car washes
  • Ice cream socials
  • BBQ, taco bar, chili cook-offs
  • Golf tournaments
  • Fun runs

Have you thought about holding a church-wide or class-wide event? Recycling aluminum cans, plastic bottles and glass can net some money for yummy, nutritious food or school supplies for our kids. Electronics can be recycled for a profit, also. Your city government might be a resource for setting this up. Be resourceful!

Yard, garage or rummage sales offer the fulfillment of hopes to find that rare gem for the bargain hunter while generating help for the Home. Bake sales or dessert auctions are popular successes. Raffles or quarter auctions are fun to attend, exciting to bid on and great to walk away with a winner. Pair the events with a food option (hamburgers, hotdogs or pizza for sale). Be creative!

Youth groups, women’s groups and men’s groups can organize “handy man”, “fix it” events besides doing the always fun on a hot day, go to, car washes. Organize an after-event ice cream social. Certain fund raisers can be a free will offering event. Be imaginative!

An after-church service BBQ or taco bar, that highlights El Sauzal, can be made into a fund raising event. Organize a chili cook-off with judging and small prizes. Pair the cook-off with some square dancing for an extra fun night. Be inventive!

FORE! You can turn a round of golf into a fundraiser. Yes, you can! If you are in a K run, sponsorships can go to support the Home. Be innovative!

If we are all able to do something, even though it does not result in a lot of money by itself, all our little somethings, together, will be a great help to the Home. Be fruitful!

So, what can we do? We can do what we can, knowing that the Home for Needy Children greatly appreciates what can be done and that the children are that much better supported, as a result. Be inspired!
